Krispy Kreme's treat! Free donut and coffee!

i was glazed! aha, i just had a free original glazed and brewed coffee from Krispy Kreme at Mall of Asia, I received a coupon from them through my email. What I did next was register my name and my phone number to their site, pass the coupon to other friends and print the confirmation from Krispy Kreme. The reply email was moved to my spam folder so make sure you check it if you're expecting a reply. I printed the whole coupon with the image, shown here, went to their drive thru together with a valid ID, and added iced donut and chocolate hershey. yum, perfect for a rainy afternoon.

akomismo movement

I was really moved in awe when I first saw the AKOMISMO ad from the TV. At that moment, I was challenged to be more of a good citizen to our country. Obviously, most of us Filipinos are doing well now of being a good citizen, most of us are aware and proactive regarding environmental concerns.

I’m not sure of what akomismo movement really aims or targets to accomplish, for me, it's a broad idea; it's to be a positive element in any ways that we do … maybe it's personal, from family, from friends, to the environment, to the government or for religion.

For me, the phrase akomismo ("Ako mismo") or "I did exactly" or "I am exactly" or "I will exactly", checks, reminds and challenges us of what we did, what are we doing and what will be our next actions in a very exact manner. A very concrete idea and promise to oneself. But it’s not just “ano ang gagawin mo”, but also , “ano na ang nagawa mo sa kapwa at sa bayan? ano ?”

I think, the add spoke enough, it doesn't need gatherings of people who became a fan of that idea or, registration from their site (I’m not sure if there is, I just skimmed through this blog site about that). What we need is movement, constant movement inside our hearts, "buo loob dapat". I think this is a call for each individual to be aware to our world's concerns, if you have done actions or doing actions right now, add more to it, do more challenges to yourself, that from you is a good example of what akomismo is for you!

geek share #4: Globe 5 pesos per 15 minutes!

This post shares about, using your motorola rokr e6 as a phone modem utilizing myGlobe Internet at 5 pesos for 15 minutes.

okay, we're both assuming that your motorola pc suite is already installed and your computer recognizes your phone and you know how to manipulate your E6 phone using the PC suite (Phonebook, Sync, Calendar, the likes).

here's how to do it;

1. Send a request to Globe to use their 5 for 15 promo by texting the word TIME and sending it to 1111.

2. Set your Setup>USB Mode to Modem. Enable GPRS on your phone.

3. Start your Moto PC suite as the usual way you do. (By this time, your phone is already connected to your pc.)

4. Click on Internet Connection on the right menu of the suite. And create connection. A wizard will guide you:
a. Create a New Creation. Next
b. Give your connection a name. Next
c. Uncheck the Use default parameters checkbox. Next
d. for the username, type the word "none" and blank the password field. Type "http.globe.com.ph" in APN field. Next
e. Next. Next.
g. Select Dynamic DNS addresses. Next
h. Next. Next. Next and Finish.

5. Now you are ready to launch your new connection.

Hope this works for you...Keep us posted!

my word of the day #1: elated

As of 3:28 PM of March 20, 2009, my word of the day is "elated". Wordweb application and online page defines it as of the following:

"Adjective: elated i'ley-tid

1. Exultantly proud and joyful; in high spirits
"the elated winner"; "felt elated and excited"

2. Full of high-spirited delight
- gleeful, joyful, jubilant, cock-a-hoop, on top of the world

Verb: elate i'leyt

1. Fill with high spirits; fill with optimism
"Music can elate your spirits"
- lift up, uplift, pick up, intoxicate"
- by wordweb

let me try using this in a sentence;
#1 I am so elated from the comments of your friends that I am a cool and smart guy.
#2 I tried searching in google using "Yellow Cab Imus" as my search key and I'm elated that my blog was in top 5 searches.

Yellow Cab Imus: Now Open!

They opened a week ago together with the usual settings, services and menu of other Yellow Cab stores.

We visited the store last night to savor the enticing taste of the Charlie Chan Chicken Pasta, grab the rich flavor of the generously tomatoes-and-chicken-topped pizza which they call, Corona Chicken Salsa and drive it all down with quenching comfort of Coca Cola.

Their digits for delivery are (046)875-2222; They are in Palico-Imus area (see Google Maps) sitting on the right side of Aguinaldo Highway if you're leading to Tagaytay from Coastal Highway.

Your chances of having Yellow Cab is from 10 am to 12 midnight everyday! Indulge...

geek share #1: Magic Podcasts

Podcasts? enlighten me...okay...i define podcast same as a blog(writing anything), where in podcast, you can say anything you want but be sure you're also responsible of the words you're throwing. Here, you are recording what you are saying, your conversation with someone or an interview, and obviously, it should be informative enough so listeners will be coming back for more. The following link is an example of a podcast. Hit the PLAY/STOP image. :) happy listening while you are working...

pang-apat, laging magsabi ng "paki", "salamat" at "excuse me".

doktor quak issue # 1: Blink Power

Blinking is very essential to our eyes 'coz it lubricates our eyes to prevent it from drying (maybe not really dried out, but maybe not enough eye fluids); like applying lip balm on lips; or wetting our throats; it also protects the eyes from incoming foreign objects, just like the wiper of our cars.

So where's the catch?...here it is, we blink once every 2 to 10 seconds but when we work on our computers, our blinking rate goes down...we don't notice it but we seldom blink when we're really focused on our monitors or other reading materials like books and magazine; this makes our eyes irritated, worked out or fatigued resulting to more illness for the eyes.

This made me realize that i have to blink for a day to make up for the seconds that i didn't blink...haha... 8P

tech issue #1: comparing two files in command prompt

I was watching a video regarding encrypting and decrypting file. And at the later part of the video, the author used FC command in command prompt to compare the original VB source code file against the decrypted one. And it is useful to make sure that nothing was missed in the decryption of your file. Eventhough the decrypted file is written in jumbled characters, FC command is smart to know that the two files are identical in content.

(funny and dumb) I got interested with the capability of the command so I tried to compare two access databases with size of 1 G a piece, then "walah ", it ate my memory and slowed down my pc; haha, don't try that, i just got curious with what the result will be comparing database to database.

I think it works well with text files; One more thing I'd like to share, I just found out this one from the video, after typing CD then SPACE BAR then hitting tab respectively will show folders or files in the current directory, then hit enter. 'Coz before, I'll type the whole name of the file or the folder (ahaha, don't give me the raised eyebrow, I just knew this stuff...)

globe call and text promos

I am fond of the promos of Globe like the 232, 235, 236 and the UNYT 20. Dialing a globe number prefixed with 232, like 232-906-221-3432, will cost you 0.10 peso per second or 6.00 per minute. Dialing a globe number prefixed with 235, like 235-906-221-3432, will cost you 10.00 pesos for a 3-minute call. The call lasts for only 3 minutes; unfortunately, you have to dial again, unlike the 232, which is a continuous call. Using 232 is cheaper on Sundays; it only costs 0.05 peso per second or 3.00 per minute.

I'm also fond of using UNYT 20, where once you are registered, you can call globe number like 0906-221-3432 for at most 7 hours that is from 11 PM to 6 AM of the next day. Good thing for those people who always stay late. So how to do this, I think you should have at least 25.00, then text unyt 20 and send to 8888. Then wait for the globe's message like "Maari mo ng gamitin ...", i forgot the next phrases.

I'm also fond of using sulitxt 15, when once registered; you can send 100 SMS to globe or TM friends. Here how it goes, text sulitxt 15 and send to 8888. Then wait for the message "Maari mo ng gamitin...". This last for 24 hours.

Dialing 236-906-221-3432 will last for 20 minutes and costs 20.00. Just be sure that the one you're calling will not answer and drop the call immediately or fails to secure a good connection in the middle of the call. So what I usually do is, I use 232 first then ask if he/she can chat for 20 minutes, then I can use 236.

Be careful, 'coz sometimes, globe fails to send us the confirmation "Maari mo ng gamitin..." but they already deducted our phone credits. So to be sure, check your balance after registering to a promo. Or just to be sure, call the customer service.

If you got interested with this, visit globe's tabulation of their promos.

If you're running out of phone credits, lots of store in manila is catering in retailing this phone credits, or if you have a BPI ATM, you can reload you phone from an ATM by going to SPECIAL SERVICES that you can choose from the menu of the BPI ATM. You can choose from 100,500 and 1000 Globe Prepaid Credits. I think this is a free service from BPI. Happy texting!
